The Greyist Thoughts

I've been trying to get my act together this week...and have been failing. So, you get more of my paintings and videos. Luuuucky.

What those albums could have been without the record company pestering them for more strings. You might need more cowbell but you never need more strings. De Feitas is almost completely washed out of the mix by 8,000 chellos...listen to this s***. The bit between him and Sergeant is a rocket ship.

This one's done I reckon.

This one I'm still workin' out...and taking great pleasure doing it. It's a portrait.

Again the contrast...

The lyrics are always silly...which is fine with me...the trench coat is not. Take that damn thing off. You're inside man.

  1. Fascinating glimpse of some of your painting here.
Re: Echo and The Bunnymen - my guess is that the band were only too keen to slap strings on their stuff in this phase. Mac in particular was looking for grandeur. Prefer the first three albums myself.

    1. I read something about Sergeant being annoyed by the changes demanded and made to porcupine...not Mac though. Who does seem to constantly verge on Pomposity. Ha.
These live clips shed a lot of that...I'm especially taken by the version of Lips Like Sugar.
Crocodiles is on my short list.

    2. Thanks on painting too. I'm starting to get annoyed with the limits of my phone camera. When I'm trying to hide flaws it's fine but these are too blurry and dull.

  2. You've got your act together on your painting, there's no doubt about it. Wonderful. Something tells me there could be quite a back-story to this particular portrait...?

    1. Thank you ma'am. I've been struggling with it lately but these two seem to've come together alright.

      Yeah.,,there's lots to tell...lots.

  3. Love the pink telecaster. The Game and Lips Like Sugar are their last best songs. Ocean Rain is ace, full of grandeur and pretentiousness and daf tlyrics. Love it. Heaven Up Here may well be their masterpiece though

    1. We've gotten a few answers on the best bunnymen album...I should put on a debate...formal like. Of course y'all would have to participate...and there would be a two drink minimum before responding.

It could be like a series.

That pink telecaster is stone cold.

  4. Good mouth on that portrait. Olympus cameras aren't too pricey and are great for colours for photographing paintings. The F-word bought a camera almost solely for that purpose but the brand he settled on has slipped my mind.

    1. I need to do something...cause these just aren't turning out. Washed out.

I'm trying to set up a website for it but...until I get some decent pictures. Maybe I could stop taking 'em in that dingy room out there. Might help.
